Roliando guides
Documentation for Roliando's tools: 33 guides on the system builder, the table and tactical map, the content library and the community.
- My game isn't here: the universal sheet — A sheet that rolls in a minute for any game — from your PDF, from scratch or both — and grows from the sheet itself: pages, fields, rolls that read the sheet, free-form design and your PDF manual.
- System Builder: first steps — What a system is, the three ways of working (wizard, expert and code), the shortest path to something playable, and a map of every tab.
- Fields and formulas — The nine field types and their options, the whole formula engine (functions, text comparison) and how effects work.
- Sheet layout — Tabs, grid and the full widget catalog. How things reflow on mobile, conditional visibility, sub-tabs and per-class layouts.
- Rolls — The system die, resolution modes, criticals and fumbles (and why they flip), and each field's roll settings.
- Combat — Vitals, fixed or opposed defense, absorption, actions with range and damage, type effectiveness, conditions and states.
- Party sheets — Things that belong to the whole party (the ship, the boat, the lair): shared or one per character, who edits them, cross-references in formulas, and how to build them from the UI or in code.
- Character creation and progression — The wizard steps and their four ways of generating values, grants, levels, perks with uses and sub-options, and skill trees.
- Items, bestiary, economy and rules — The item catalog, creatures ready for the map, coins and inventory, optional rules per table and the system manual.
- Code mode (Roll20 style) — Build your system by writing HTML, CSS and sheet workers like in Roll20: transpiler, isolated sandbox, roll buttons and round-tripping back to code.
- Running a campaign — The campaign from the inside: its tabs (World, Rules, Map, Journal, Combat, Players, Table, Music, Chat, Settings), inviting and managing players, the GM Screen, the generators and session music.
- GM Screen — Run the game from one screen: tabs, Ctrl K search with your system's compendium, the Notebook, drag to link, the Journal editor ([[links]], @mentions, callouts, code), the GM board and showing to the whole campaign.
- Map editor — Dungeondraft-grade map authoring inside the VTT: the rail and the Draw, Build and Objects groups, the map Library, stamps and scatter, paths, roofs, layers, the 250 MB quota and Dungeondraft import.
- Map Builder — Inkarnate-style world maps: landmass with automatic coasts, biome painting clipped to land, assets and scatter, textured rivers, ambience and lights, export and use in play or publish to the Workshop.
- Combat at the table — The action bar (the D&D hotbar and the one for other systems), turn-based initiative, dropping and driving tokens, HP and conditions — the whole turn on the map.
- Walls, vision and cover — Walls, doors and cover; dynamic vision and light; the difference between invisible (a barrier you can't see) and hidden (a secret that doesn't block); portals and travel zones; half and three-quarters cover.
- Floors: multi-level maps — Build the whole building on one map: floors and each floor's plan, seeing the floor below through gaps, stairs, roofs with their occlusion modes, walls with height, and how combat works across floors.
- 3D dice — The dice tray, 3D rolls and their result, skins (themes and materials), sound, critical effects, and the Skin Studio to paint your own.
- Table apps — Write a small page — a puzzle, a console, a vote — and present it to your players: the four templates, how to talk to the table, why the answer can't live in the code, resources, and what doesn't exist inside the box.
- Puzzle Builder — Build a puzzle without writing code: rune locks, grids and lights-out, plates with a flashlight, tiles and slots, and per-player splits — everyone sees something different and has to talk.
- Event zones — Make the map act on its own: paint a zone and tell it what happens when someone steps on it — traps, doors that open, damage per turn, puzzles that must be solved to pass, and what gets imported from Foundry regions.
- Loot and chests — Campaign containers: fill them from the catalog, decide whether players take it or you hand it out, let them store things, open them by touching a chest on the map and make something happen when they do.
- The world Map — Maps, places and maps inside maps: the same map in Map and in World, zooming from the Coast into Phandalin and the crypt, zones, scale and travel, and taking any map to combat.
- Shops — Shops where characters buy and sell with their sheet: stock that runs out, the shopkeeper’s money, discounts and per-character haggling, and entering a shop from its map pin.
- Broadcast for OBS — Your game live: four one-tap modes, one OBS link per element (dice, party, turns, chat…) with no sign-in, a layout editor, cameras, pauses with countdown, and nothing that only the GM sees.
- Play-by-post — Discord-style text play: channels, off-role chat, speaking as your character, dice and notifications, and the GM's management tools (economy, NPCs, ambience).
- My Library: the explorer — Your personal storage as a file explorer: the four areas, the game sections, folders, breadcrumbs, view and sorting, sharing, and how content gets in.
- Modules and adventures — Compendium modules (how they merge into the game) and full adventures: the chapter viewer, the gallery, the Rooms view and how to bring one to the table.
- Importing content — Bring Foundry worlds and scenes, JSON adventures, Dungeondraft packs and your roll tables — all into My Library, yours and organized.
- Foundry VTT in Roliando — Bring your Foundry world (scenes with walls, lights and regions, characters and journals) and install its systems and modules to play them at the table with no server; versions v9 to v14.
- Community — The Workshop (getting and publishing content), Find a Game, community chat and reminders, achievements, and your account and plans.
- Providencia: rulebook — Roliando's own system: the d100 roll (roll under), attributes and shaping disciplines, difficulty, point-buy creation and blessings, multi-mastery, perks, experience and levels.
- D&D 5e and 2024 on Roliando: what is automated — Guided creation with each edition's rules, a sheet that does the maths and combat rule by rule —saves, damage with resistances, concentration, reactions, creatures—, and what it does not do yet.
