Macros: one roll with skills to pick
Roll a d20 and add the skills you pick on the spot, as one roll with a breakdown: the ready-made macro, how to make it yours and how to ask the table for it from Ask for a roll.
A macro is a button that does several things in a row. This guide builds the most requested one at the table: roll a d20 and add one, two or three skills you choose on the spot, as one single roll in the chat with its breakdown.
Example: the GM says "dance". You roll d20 + Performance + whichever you decide (Seduction, Dexterity, Stealth...). The chat shows one roll with the total and how much each skill adds.
No code, and nothing fixed in advance: the skill list comes from your sheet.
For players: your macro in 4 steps
You can create your own macros at the table without asking the GM. By default the whole table sees them; to keep one to yourself, change Who sees it and who uses it.
- Open Macros at the table and press New macro.
- Among the templates pick Roll with skills to pick. It comes ready made.
- Name it and Save. To keep it one click away, put it on the macro bar (drag it to a slot, or Shift + the slot number).
- Done.
To use it: press the bar button. A window shows the fields on your sheet that have a number. Tick 1 to 3 and press Answer. Once you reach the maximum, the rest grey out. The chat publishes a single roll:
Roll with Performance, Seduction · 21 ·
[14] Performance +4, Seduction +3
Running it costs one click on the button, the ticks you want, and one click on Answer.
Make it yours
Open the macro and change the ask someone step:
- fields to pick from: write only the skills you want to offer, comma-separated (
Performance, Seduction, Stealth). Accents and capitals don't matter. Empty means every numeric field on your sheet. - must pick at least and can pick at most: from how many to how many.
- name of the answer: what the later steps call it (
habby default).
And the roll dice step, where you can add anything fixed:
1d20+{{ficha.Performance}}{{respuesta.hab_formula}}That is "d20 + Performance always + the ones you pick". What the question leaves for later steps:
| Write | What it is |
|---|---|
{{respuesta.hab}} | the picked names: Seduction, Stealth |
{{respuesta.hab_formula}} | what they add, to paste after a die: +3-1 |
{{respuesta.hab_suma}} | the sum already done: 2 |
{{respuesta.hab_desglose}} | Seduction +3, Stealth -1, for the visible breakdown box of the roll step |
{{respuesta.hab_n}} | how many you picked |
If your sheet has no numeric skill, the macro stops and says so instead of rolling blind.
For the GM: ask the table for it
From Ask for a roll:
- Pick who (one, several or everyone).
- Write or pick what is rolled (for example, Performance).
- Under Have them roll with a macro pick Roll with skills to pick. The first time it is saved in the table; after that it is already in the list.
- Send.
Each player gets their request. When they press Roll, their skills window opens, they pick what they want, and their roll closes the request with the total (with a DC it also says whether it passes). If they cancel, the request stays pending.
You can pick any macro of the table in that dropdown, not only this one: whichever rolls the dice the way your system needs.
Whoever answers picks from their own sheet: nobody sees or touches anyone else's.
GM macros
You can make the same macro for yourself (for example, for your NPC rolls) and leave it visible to the table: in the macro settings, Who sees it and who uses it.
If something goes wrong
- "There are no numeric fields on your sheet": select your character on the map, or open the table with the system sheet. The macro reads the sheet of the token you have selected or, if none, your character's.
- The list shows fields that aren't skills: write the ones you want in fields to pick from, comma-separated.
- "What it would do" doesn't look like the real thing: the editor shows the macro without asking; the question appears when you really run it.
