Licences and Attributions

Roliando is an independent tool for character sheets, campaigns and tabletop RPG utilities. **It is not affiliated with, sponsored or endorsed by any of the publishers named on this page.** All game names quoted here are trademarks of their respective owners and are used only to describe compatibility.

Dungeons & Dragons — System Reference Document

Roliando’s fifth edition support is declared compatible with Dungeons & Dragons by Wizards of the Coast. The open rules come from the System Reference Documents published under a Creative Commons licence:

Dungeons & Dragons, D&D and their logos are trademarks of Wizards of the Coast LLC. Roliando does not use those logos and claims no affiliation.

Fate Core

Roliando’s Fate system is compatible with the Fate Core System and is based on its text, available under a Creative Commons licence:

Fate™ and the Fate logo are trademarks of Evil Hat Productions, LLC, used with permission under the Fate Community Use Policy. Roliando is not affiliated with Evil Hat.

GUMSHOE — System Reference Document

Roliando’s GUMSHOE support —character sheet, rules, compendium and manual, with its three rulesets (GUMSHOE, QuickShock and One-2-One)— is based on the GUMSHOE SRD by Pelgrane Press, published under a Creative Commons licence:

GUMSHOE, Trail of Cthulhu, Night’s Black Agents and the other titles in the Pelgrane Press catalogue are trademarks of their owners. Roliando implements SRD material only: it does not reproduce books, adventures or settings, and it is not affiliated with Pelgrane Press.

MÖRK BORG

The Mörk Borg system available on Roliando is an independent production published under the MÖRK BORG Third Party License. It implements the game’s mechanics —which are not subject to copyright— with text, names and tables written by Roliando: it does not reproduce the book’s text, art or logos.

PIRATE BORG

The Pirate Borg system available on Roliando is an independent production that implements its mechanics with table names, creatures and text written by Roliando: it does not reproduce the text, art or logos of Limithron’s books. Two licences apply in sequence, and both are quoted:

SOMBRA Y ACERO — made with The Black Hack

The Sombra y Acero system is an adaptation of the Open Content of The Black Hack by David Black, whose book states that “all text and tables are open content” under the Open Game License v1.0a. The name The Black Hack and the hand logo are the author’s Product Identity: that is why the system does not carry that title and includes only the mention the author authorises for standalone products. No art or layout from the book is reproduced, and the manual is written by Roliando.

BULLETPROOF BLUES — CC BY-SA 4.0 / OGL

The Bulletproof Blues system is an adaptation to Roliando’s engine of the game by **Brandon Blackmoor** (Kalos Comics, revised 3rd edition). The book is **dual-licensed** —Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 and Open Game License v1.0a— and states that “all text is Open Content”. This adaptation relies on CC BY-SA 4.0: the work is attributed to its author, the changes are stated (translation into Spanish and adaptation of the rules to the engine) and, being ShareAlike, **the adaptation is shared under the same licence**. No image from the original is reproduced.

LASERS & FEELINGS — CC BY 4.0

Lasers y Sentimientos is based on **Lasers & Feelings** by **John Harper** (One Seven Design), released under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 (CC BY 4.0) since 2021. The rulebook wording and the adventure generator tables are Roliando's own; the Laser Feelings question list is a translation of the original. *This game is based on Lasers & Feelings by John Harper, licensed under CC BY 4.0.*

Battle maps

Roliando **does not distribute a third-party map library**: the GM uploads the map, and the editor only links to sites where maps can be downloaded for free (2-Minute Tabletop, The Fateful Force and **Dyson Logos**’ blog). Seven Dyson Logos maps remain from an earlier version, served under his commercial-use-with-attribution licence for tables that were already using them; whenever one of them is open, his credit appears over the map.

Maps and assets — Tom Cartos

The three battle maps in the public demo and the **800 map assets** in the built-in library are by **Tom Cartos**, used under the TOM License (Tom’s Open Map License), which allows commercial use of the free versions subject to its terms. The files are served **as they are**, uncropped and unedited, watermark intact. The assets are available to **every account, free ones included**, as the licence requires: they are never sold or kept behind a plan. The credit with a link to his site appears in the gallery itself and over the map whenever one of them is open.

Animated combat effects — JB2A

The video clips behind the VTT’s effects are by **JB2A (Jules & Ben’s Animated Assets)**, under the **CC BY-NC-SA 4.0** license. They are served re-encoded to weigh less, with no cuts or changes to their content.

Map builder textures

The textures and props Roliando ships with the map editor are by **Kenney** (public domain, CC0) and the “oldschool” set by **neovatar** (Thomas Seliger), under CC BY 4.0. The credit also appears inside the editor, next to the gallery.

Sound effects — Freesound

The soundboard effects come from Freesound. The built-in search is limited to sounds released under Creative Commons 0 (public domain), which require no attribution. We are grateful to the Freesound community all the same.

GIFs — GIPHY

Chat GIFs are served through the GIPHY API (“Powered by GIPHY”).

Music — YouTube

Campaign music is played through YouTube’s official embedded player. Roliando does not download, extract or store the audio; the content belongs to its creators and is governed by YouTube’s terms.

Typefaces and icons

Interface icons: Lucide (ISC licence). Game icons (conditions, weapons, world map and GUMSHOE abilities): game-icons.net under CC BY 3.0, by andymeneely, badges, carl-olsen, caro-asercion, cathelineau, Delapouite, faithtoken, Lorc, lord-berandas, lucasms, quoting, sbed, Skoll, willdabeast and zeromancer. They are recoloured and their background removed; the drawing itself is unchanged. Typefaces Cinzel, Spectral, Inter and IM Fell English via Google Fonts (SIL Open Font License). **Special Elite** by Astigmatic (AOETI), self-hosted under the Apache License 2.0. The remaining typefaces and interface artwork are used under commercial licences purchased by Roliando.

Systems published on Roliando

Roliando publishes adaptations of games whose rules are open. Each one carries its licence notice and full credits inside its own manual, readable without an account from its page:

User-created systems and content

Custom systems, sheets, campaigns and materials created or uploaded by users belong to their authors, who declare they hold the necessary rights (see the Terms). Roliando does not pre-screen all user content.
